Entangled Landscape is grounded in the Chinese landscape tradition of xiesheng, here understood as writing the “intent” of nature rather than depicting its appearance. Through this approach, external scenery is transformed into an internalized experience. Nature is no longer a passive object of appreciation but an active participant in the image’s formation. The material agencies of light, wind, shadow, and paper interact on site, rendering the picture plane an open system continuously shaped by time and environment.
